This is my blog where I like to rant about stuff, post cool stuff I found on the internet, or just talk crap.

This year has been fucking amazing music wise.

So I've got a hold of tones of new music this year, mainly melodic hardcore stuff and I've been getting so amped on a couple bands so here's just a couple of bands that are amazing.

Dillinger Four

I've had the Situationist Comedy album for ages but never really listened to it much. When I saw they'd released Civil War a couple years later I got it and thought it was awesome and since got a hold of their Versus God album too!

LaGrecia

LaGrecia is awesome. Fronted by the lead singer of None More Black, really one of the best albums I've heard this year.

Nothington/Western Addiction/Utopia Now

Each awesome bands in their own ways.

Zero Punctuation

If you don't know about Zero Punctuation, you have been missing out. A quick summary: Australian man critically reviews games without stopping to breath. But yeah, just watched the Modern Warfare 2 video and the Left 4 Dead 2 Video, both of which are hilarious, just like all his videos.

Been a While

Haven't updated my blog for a while and I do have a good reason, I've been on holiday. Most people would assume being on holiday means you have more free time to do stuff like update your blog, but I believe that is wrong and I think I've figured out why. Without university work, the need to be productive disappears. Lately I've just been playing Call of Duty all day or just hanging out and doing not much of anything, I've even felt like just sitting at home rather than going out (although I haven't). But yeah, hopefully I'll get into gear next week or something and start doing some more art and what not, in the mean time I thought I'd share something with everyone.

It's also interesting to note, when fonts are displayed like this, they look really good. If you take a look here you can see what I mean. the fonts with nice presentation look better, and I think it's quite similar to packaging design, if you check out Lovely Packaging or the Dieline all the packaging looks so nice and stuff, but then again, it is photographed on a white background with great lighting. Try think about those same products on a supermarket shelf surrounded by other products. I don't think they would have quite the same effect (of course there is some packaging that would be so radically different to similar products that it would stand out).

Talking about packaging and branding, I've been reading Buyology and although it is interesting there are a couple things that keep me from enjoying it. Firstly, I've just read Blink! and The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell and then after that Freakonomics, both of which are really interesting and written very well. Buyology, not so much. The other thing which I think might be my main problem is the way Martin Lindstrom is so damn full of himself. I don't know what the first 3 chapters were about because all I can remember is him saying "I'm so awesome, I work for huge companies, I fly around the world, this book is the biggest study of it's kind". It's like watching freaking Time Warp, all I want is the stuff in slow motion, screw the two retards going "oh, this is Newton's Third Law of Motion, every action has an equal and opposite reaction". Cut the bullshit and just give me the cool stuff.

Graham Paterson Likes This: Dead Pirates - Wood

Saw this on another blog, it's freaking awesome. The animation is super cool, the character design is also amazing and the song itself is also pretty rad.

The song's by Dead Pirates and it's super hard to find out stuff about them, searching "dead pirates" will give you alot of the Johnny Depp kind. I did find this though
"Did you know über-talented illustrator McBess has a band called The Dead Pirates with fellow designer Simon? Well, the two teamed up with superhouse the Mill and created this music video for their band. The result is a fantastic piece done in McBess's signature drawing-style, all in black and white, and with a fun little story. Looking forward to seeing more from the two and hearing more of their music. The Dead Pirates (McBess) - Wood" [Odeo]

There's also this one which I'm not sure is complete yet or if this is the whole thing...

Graham Paterson Likes This: Full Sleeve

I've been watching 333bracket on Deviantart for ages and she really does take some rad photos. I especially like the way she takes 4 photos to combine them into a scene of sorts. If I ever decided to get tattoos, this is the sleeve I would want. So cool, so colourful.

My Favourite Photographers: Frieda Rose

I don't really like photographers, or should I say, I don't like people with cameras. Photographers are okay, the problem is everyone thinks they're a photographer but they have no idea what aperture is, or ISO, and those are pretty basic things as far as photography goes. I also hate the fact that photographers seem to always write their name in the bottom right corner of every photo in some crappy script font or an ugly serif font. I'm no photographer so I guess I can't complain. WRONG! It's really easy to complain about stuff you know nothing about. For example Twilight, I have never read the books nor watched any of the movies, but that's not going to stop me from saying it's crap. You don't hear people saying "how can you dis rape if you've never tried it". That's what I thought. I have gone off on quite a tangent... back to the point of this post.

Frieda Rose is a 20 year old student from Melbourne, Australia and she takes awesome photos, or at least I think she takes awesome photos, I may just think that because she's so god-damn good looking. A lot of the photos are of her and from what I understand, she is a model.

I really like the processing of her photos, the desaturated colours and the somewhat ordinary subject matter. Apparently she's quite popular (if you couldn't tell by all the comments on her flickr) and a lot of people pose as her on social networking websites...bizarre.

Not the greatest photo, but definitely gets over 9000 points for this one!
